Bangkok - Patpong District -May 2002
I sat on a tiny wooden stool, on a sidewalk next to a mobile delicatessen. Fresh grasshoppers stuffed with peanut, coated in a batter, deep fried to perfection, mounting in a small ceramic bowl. Crunchy, nutty, oily, and protein-tasty went down strangely with a sip of a killer rice wine. Not the best dish I ever had, but not the worst. The smell of an outdoor market -a mixture of new textile and old dried squids, foreign tounges and broken English haggling "ten dollah, five dollah..." from tourists and treet workers, and burning remnant of the 90 proof spirit on my tastebuds. The ultimate joy of travelling: a new experience for all the senses. What a fix!
I had a few random thoughts: New experience. New beginning. Library school.
